Press Release -From Main Street to the Grand CanalInspired by a trip to Italy, Barbara Busenbark’s paintings of Rome, Florence and Venice will be on display at Fiddlehead’s Café, 28 Main Street, Hancock now thru the month of December. In addition to the Italy paintings will be a newly completed watercolor painting of the Hancock Inn. Moving back and forth between local scenes and Italy’s “old world” character, the exhibit is both familiar and . Among the paintings of Italy are both watercolor and oil presentations of a day in Rome. A watercolor street scene entitled “Rainy Rome” and an oil painting “Piazza del Popolo” show the city alive with people rushing to and fro with colorful umbrellas. While two smaller palette knife oil paintings, one an old window and the other an old door capture the texture of Venice’s Murano Island. Not to be left out is a large painting called “From the Ponte Vecchio”, in which the Arno River, the Uffizi Gallery and the mountains of Tuscany are all brought together by the light of the late afternoon sun. As for things closer to home, watercolor paintings of local barns will be recognized by residents of the area. “Bass Road Farm” and “Spring Barns” are both Peterborough places. As is so often the case in New England, the colors are very different depending on the time of year. The green barns of “Bass Road Far” show hints of Autumn in the foreground but “Spring Barns” is in early Spring before there is any green to be found. Rounding out the local collection of watercolor paintings is “Monadnock in Autumn”. Barbara’s work can also be seen on her web site, BarbaraBusenbark.com or by visiting her Peterborough studio, which is open by appointment. Her work, including paintings of the White Mountains will also be on display thru December at the People’s United Bank, West St., Keene, and at the “Affordable Art Show”, Heberton Hall, Keene, December 4, 10-4. For more information, or to schedule an appointment she can be reached at 924-7613.
