Ruins of Isola Madonna del Monte
On the way back to Venice from Burano we passed these ruins. It was striking. I had to read up on the history once I got home. The island had several lives over the centuries beginning as a place for a Benedictine convent in 1303. These ruins are what's left of a powder magazine from 1712. The island is privately owned. 12" x 24", oil on panel. - Sold
