I was draw to an old schoolhouse. I pulled over and got out of my truck and started taking pictures, I will paint the schoolhouse soon enough but this bicycle leaning against a shed off to the side was a perfect picture. I had to paint it. Date: 04/05/12

It is the side wall of an antique shop called Bowerbird and Friends. The haphazard arrangement of pots and miscellaneous items coupled with the bottles in the windows were a must paint for me. 18" x 36", oil on canvas.Date: 02/21/12

Nakai Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park (New Paintings)

Such was the case when I traveled to Rocky Mountain National Park in October. I asked for ideas at the visitor center and the suggestion was an area of beautiful fall foliage. I took note but I was really more interested in the mountains themselves. Driving up into the peaks was amazing but there didn't seem to be a good place to paint. The wind also discouraged me from setting up my gear. It was when I'd crossed the Continental Divide and began descending that I saw the perfect place to paint. It was getting late so I was only able to start my painting but I was able to finish from photographs once back in my studio.

It was a great spot with a lot of color and texture. I hope to return someday earlier in the summer.

Red Rock Morning (New Paintings)

The natural amphitheater there is very well known and many famous people have played there. Additionally there were wonderful rock formations that were in various shades of red depending how the light was hitting them. I liked this view because of the color of the rock formations with some in light, some in shade and some in the distance. Throw in the valley down below and it was an easy choice for what I wanted to paint.Date: 10/18/11

Dinghys (New Paintings)

Maybe it's the different colors and shapes, maybe it's that they are working boats or just that they are part of that profession that has such a mystique about. Whatever it is I just can't resist the little boats.

It was a treat to be able to set up downtown and go to work on some favorite scenes. This one is very familiar to those of us who live here. The Unitarian Church on Main Street is beautiful, but I had to paint it from the vantage point of walking into "Little Roy's". That's the way most of us have viewed it most often. 11" x 14", oil on canvas.Date: 08/22/11

It's one I've been wanting to do for quite some time. It is of Michael and Betsy Gordon's garden. He is a fabulous gardener and in fact has helped with gardens in our parks as well. The extra treat is being able to see Mount Monadnock in the background. 16" x 20", oil on canvas.Date: 08/22/11
