It was striking. I had to read up on the history once I got home. The island had several lives over the centuries beginning as a place for a Benedictine convent in 1303. These ruins are what's left of a powder magazine from 1712. The island is privately owned. 12" x 24", oil on panel. - SoldDate: 02/25/11

It was our last day there and we were rushing to get to a last museum. So at a brisk pace we passed musician, then I turned around and looked back at her. The scene was great, arches, the aging buildings, foot bridge over the canal, and the woman with her dyed red hair matching the accordian and the long shadow pointing back to her from the tip basket.

12" x16"Date: 11/16/10

The sun was trying to come out which left reflections in the puddles every time some light shone through. The stormy sky and the bright umbrellas added to the color of the day.We sat in a nearby café and had a capaccino as we watched the passersby.

16" x 20", oil on canvasDate: 11/16/10
